Sophia La

Dr. La completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Arlington, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 2013. She then attended the InterAmerican University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry, where her clinical training gave her the opportunity to serve underserved communities and gain valuable experience diagnosing and managing a wide range of ocular conditions, including diabetes-related eye disease, glaucoma, infections, and cataracts.

During optometry school, Dr. La was an active member of the American Optometric Student Association and the American Academy of Optometry. In 2016, she was awarded the J. Pat Cummings Scholarship through the American Academy of Optometry. She went on to graduate as valedictorian of her class, earning her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2018.

Dr. La is a licensed Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist with seven years of experience in eye care. She has a particular interest in the diagnosis and management of retinal and ocular conditions, including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and glaucoma. Her approach to care is centered on providing personalized, comprehensive eye care and helping patients maintain healthy vision throughout every stage of life.

She enjoys caring for both children and adults and is proficient in providing comprehensive eye examinations in Spanish. For Dr. La, eye care is about more than helping patients see clearly—it is about helping them experience the people, places, and little moments that become meaningful memories.

Outside of the office, Dr. La enjoys spending time with her husband, their two children, and their fur baby. When she isn't caring for patients, she enjoys playing tennis, watching movies, playing video games, and expressing her creative side through arts and crafts.
